Zigbee2MQTT has rolled out a significant update, introducing a new option to preserve device configuration when removing a device, expanding support to 84 additional devices, and delivering a host of improvements and fixes that enhance compatibility and reliability for self-hosted smart home setups.
Device Support and Enhancements – The update brings refinements across numerous brands. Bosch thermostats gain humidity alarm LED toggles, PushOk hardware supports offline_action and inverted modes, Rti-Tek adds STH2Z support, and Schneider Electric exposes hub-less operation. Tuya devices see configurable time sync and new exposure of ac_frequency, while Aqara devices now offer level configuration and identify clusters. SONOFF, Moes, Namron, and Shelly all receive expanded feature sets, including external occupancy support and writable sensor modes. The definition generator now supports HVAC clusters, and power-on behavior is exposed in generated support.
Key Fixes and Reliability Improvements – A wide range of fixes address message debouncing, crash prevention, Home Assistant discovery mapping, and device-specific issues. Among the highlights: corrected color temperature ranges for Philips Hue lights, improved calibration for SONOFF sensors, fixed transition behavior for Legrand dimmers, and enhanced OTA handling. Firmware-level updates include patches for serialport compatibility with newer Node versions, improved group member removal, and prevention of crashes during backup failures.
New Device Detection and Frontend – The release adds 84 new supported devices, including smart switches, sensors, thermostats, and lighting from brands such as Heiman, eWeLink, Philips Hue, Aqara, Tuya, OWON, and TERNCY. Detection improvements help identify various Tuya and other models more reliably. On the frontend, users can now preserve device config on removal, and the archive library has been switched from jszip to fflate for better performance.
