n8n version 2.31.7, released on July 27, 2026, brings two important bug fixes for self-hosted users. First, the security audit process for credentials has been hardened: n8n no longer loads execution data during these audits. Previously, running an audit could inadvertently pull in sensitive execution logs, raising security concerns and slowing down the process. Now the audit stays focused and efficient, keeping your data safer and audits faster.

The second fix addresses a persistent issue with S3 storage integrations. When workflows use S3 nodes to handle files with special characters in their names or paths, the signing process now strictly adheres to RFC 3986 encoding. This eliminates authentication errors like “403 Forbidden” that previously occurred due to incorrect URL encoding, ensuring reliable file operations with any bucket or file path.
