Immich v3.0.3 Released: Smoother Performance and Essential Fixes

Immich v3.0.3 arrives with a mix of reliability improvements and a new distribution channel for Android users. The team has now started publishing releases to their own F-Droid repository at https://app.futo.org/fdroid/repo. If you’re using F-Droid, switching to this repo ensures you get updates directly from the source, while existing installations via other methods continue to work as usual.

This update fixes several frustrating bugs, particularly around Live Photos. An issue where background uploads of Live Photos weren’t appearing has been resolved, and in specific cases where newly uploaded Live Photos showed broken thumbnails, a manual or nightly thumbnail regeneration job will clear it up. Other fixes include preventing an incorrect plugin method selection when closing the picker, ensuring album owner updates require proper authorization, and correcting the system appbar icon color in the asset viewer. The Android memories widget now sends a full datetime, memory search date validation was tightened, and the Ken Burns effect on the sliver app bar no longer jitters. Mobile users will also notice that zoom state resets properly when swapping between assets.

Behind the scenes, the server now correctly sets the hvc1 tag when using hardware acceleration, and locked visibility is properly enforced in the random search endpoint. Documentation has been updated to point to the new F-Droid repository and to cover system integrity requirements. Translation contributions continue to refine the user experience across languages.
