Amazon Bedrock announces up to 80% lower prices for OpenAI GPT‑5.6 models – If you’re running OpenAI’s GPT-5.6 family on Amazon Bedrock, your costs just took a significant dip. Effective July 30, on-demand inference prices for GPT-5.6 Luna have been slashed by 80%, while GPT-5.6 Terra sees a 20% reduction. Luna now costs $0.20 per million input tokens and $1.20 per million output tokens, making it one of the most affordable frontier-class models available. The best part? AWS IAM Identity Center Expands Multi-Region Support to Its Directory — You can now replicate IAM Identity Center from your primary AWS Region to other Regions when using the Identity Center directory as your identity source. In the event of a disruption in the primary Region, users will still have access to their AWS accounts via entitlements provisioned in the additional Regions. Amazon S3 Tables Now Supports the Variant Data Type for Apache Iceberg V3 — Amazon S3 Tables introduces support for the Variant data type from the Apache Iceberg V3 specification. Variant offers a high-performance, native approach to handling semi-structured data in your data lake—such as IoT sensor data, application logs, and other schema-flexible payloads—without falling back on JSON blobs.
